What is Skin Longevity?

We have all heard the term "longevity" when it comes to living longer lives.  We want our bodies to remain healthy and active for as long as possible so we live longer. However,  skin longevity refers to much more than not having wrinkles.  It is a relatively new term used in cosmetic skin science that is focused on using cutting-edge biotech ingredients combined with natural ingredients to maintain skin health by helping it function optimally and increase beneficial skin functioning that helps skin stay firmer, more resilient and reversing damage from UV and skin inflammation. It may seem odd to talk about our skin living a longer, healthier life, but that is exactly what we are trying to do. As more and more people, especially women, are living into their late 90's and 100's,  we don't have to accept a natural decline in our health and vitality.  Nor do we have to accept that our skin will become very fragile, lifeless and more prone to damage.   What we have witnessed is the results can be astounding.  In our recent clinical trial with the Sunlight Serum, for example, we noticed a dramatic change even in women in their late 60's and early 70's who hadn't used retinol or actives in their daily routine and didn't get regular facials or injections. One participant said she saw a dramatic lightening of the sun damage spots on her face to the point her best friend asked her what she was doing differently because her skin looked amazing. Why is skin longevity important? As we age, our whole body's natural process of regeneration slows down also.  Over time, our skin can become more fragile and damage more easily.  However, countless studies have been conducted on supplementing with vitamins, amino acids and collagen supplements to assist our body staying healthy, and we can do this topically also. While we can't prevent the aging process,  we can assist our body and skin, which is our largest organ, in maintaining it's healthy balance, just like we do for our internal organs. When we neglect our skin or the opposite, when we damage it by exposing it to too much sun, too many acids or being too overly aggressive with it in cleansing or exfoliating, it can damage the longer term healthy of our skin and disrupt our skin barrier.  What ingredients are used and are they safe? We use biotech ingredients that mimic our skin's own natural agents that keep it healthy and vibrant.  These are very safe when used at safe percentages and used as directed. Our body's naturally have certain compounds which make up our skin. Compounds like Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Elastin help make younger skin have it's smooth, plump appearance.  As we age, our body slows it's production of these compounds, so we can add them and use amino acids, vitamins and plant stem cells to stimulate their production by the skin naturally. By stimulating these processes,  the skin reacts by healing itself and producing more of the compounds which repair it from the inside out. What steps help me maintain my skin? If you aren't using daily sunscreen and an active serum in your routine in your forties or beyond, you should be.   Key Factor 1:  Actives Retinol is the most prevalent active in the anti-aging skincare market.  However, it can cause sensitivity to the sun, which could potentially increase sun damage or skin issues if you wear it during the day. We use retinol-alternatives that are safe, gentle and shown to produce effective results. Key Factor 2: Vitamins Your skin needs vitamins to function properly just like the rest of your body.  When applied topically,  certain vitamins can dramatically help skin improve and heal itself.  Many vitamins have antioxidant benefits which help skin shield itself against UV damage and pollution. Key Factor 3: Humectants These are compounds that assist skin in maintaining moisture so it doesn't become dry and damaged. Key Factor 4: Amino Acids The building blocks of proteins, which help skin to rebuild itself in a variety of way. Amino acids applied topically have been found to be highly effective. While there are many other ingredients that can be used to assist skin's health,  these main categories are the most essential in  How has science improved these? Advanced cosmetic chemistry is able to mimic our body's compounds, isolate beneficial compounds in natural ingredients and harness their power to make them more concentrated so they are highly efficient and effective. It seem odd to talk about our skin living a longer healthier life, but that is exactly what we are trying to do. As more and more people, especially women, are living into our late 90's and 100's,  we don't have to accept a natural decline in our health and vitality.  Nor do we have to accept that our skin will become very fragile and lifeless, being more prone to damage.   Consistency is key in all skincare.  If you use a product once, you won't see the longer term benefits of using it, unless it is injected or uses lasers or medical equipment.  And while a quick fix might sound attractive, the results are usually for a limited time and needs regular visits to maintain them.  So a more regular skincare routine which assists in these processes from home can dramatically help skin maintain the results of those treatments or even replace them for people who don't want to do more medical-based treatments.  While both are absolutely fine and achieve results that are beautiful, it is more of a personal preference on your approach to your skin. Which should I choose? It is completely up to you!  However,  doing only medical treatments and not following an effective skincare routine at home is not recommended.  You may as well not do medical treatments at all if you aren't going to maintain them.  It's a waste of money to not take care of your skin after getting injections or other treatments, in my opinion.  Caring for your skin doesn't stop at simply washing your face and putting on moisturizer. For optimal skin health, a high-quality skincare that uses these ingredients at clinically proven effective levels can help you achieve and maintain vibrant skin health all throughout your life. The goal isn't only not having wrinkles anymore.  The goal is to have skin that is strong and healthy all throughout our lives so we are protected from damage and can feel good in our skin at every age.
